In 1995, Thelma Cadieux, former Executive Director of the Alzheimer's Society of Montreal, was instrumental in sensitizing the public to the problems of Alzheimer's victims and their caregivers. One of her duties at the society was to help people with placement and Cadieux has turned to the private sector as a consultant to help seniors with the often stressful move to a nursing home or residence. With her extensive contacts and experience, she provided a complete evaluation of over 500 residences in the greater Montreal area. When looking for the right home for a client, Cadieux asked herself if the home would be appropriate for a family member… her philosophies remain a priority. In April 2003, following in Thelma Cadieux’s footsteps, Julie Racine began a new career as the proud owner of the Thelma Cadieux Seniors' Lodging Agency in Pointe-Claire. Julie changed the name to GerontoLogis but held on to the Thelma Cadieux’s personalized approach and commitment to helping senior’s and families navigate the housing options when moving to a nursing home or residence. In March 2007, France Caron and Kate Coulter after working with Julie Racine for one year became co-owners of GerontoLogis. They continue to update the data base of residences as they change ownership, as new residences are constructed and as services evolve in existing residences. They are proud of their personalized approach involving a one on one evaluation with the client, accompaniment to residences and follow up. |
