Our Mission

"Quality of life, it’s an individual’s perception of his/her place in existence taking into account the culture and the value system surrounding him/her and in relation to this individual’s objectives, expectations, standards and concerns. It’s a very broad concept influenced in a complex way by the physical state of the individual, his psychological state, his level of independence, his social relations as well as his relation to the basic components of his environment."  (WHO, 1993)

Taking all these facts into account, GerontoLogis’s mission is to break isolation and enhance the quality of life of the elderly and their families. We work with you before, during and after relocation to ensure that you achieve the highest quality lifestyle and maximum independence.

More than a quarter of our population have parents who need more and more health care, assistance to get around, help around the house, someone to organize their appointments and support for an eventual relocation. These responsibilities fall on the children most of the time, who have numerous other personal responsibilities. They may be working full-time, often have their own children, or live out of town. We use a holistic approach which takes all of the aspects affecting the elderly into consideration (family history, relatives, future plans, their material and social needs) to help the senior and the family navigate their way through the housing options and eventually move somewhere secure and appropriate.

Kate Coulter, Co-owner

Kate received her Bachelor of Social Work from Ryerson University in 1988. She has worked primarily in community housing during her career as a social worker. She worked for 9 years for a non-profit, technical resource group, during which she co-ordinated the development of several, multi-million dollar, resident-run, non-profit, housing projects of which many units were specifically for seniors or handicapped. She has also worked for the CLSC as a community worker and served many positions on the board of a senior’s residence in the West Island.

Kate started with GerontoLogis in February 2006, as a Lodging Consultant. In March 2007, she became a co-owner along with her partner France Caron.  For a full history of GerontoLogis, click here.

Kate’s years of experience in the development of housing in the West Island brings an added knowledge base to the already established, comprehensive database of GerontoLogis. She has an excellent understanding of the housing options for seniors and their needs as they age and their needs evolve.

She has volunteered extensively in the West Island community as a board member of a senior’s residence, and as a founder of both environmental groups and women’s groups.

France Caron, Co-owner

For the past six years France Caron has been working with senior citizens under the name of her own company – “Agence de Services France Caron”, giving seniors a new meaning to life and a reason for living, all while permitting them to remain in their home for the longest time possible or to help them better integrate their new adopted residence.

Through her life experiences, acquired knowledge from self-development courses and workshops, good instincts and strengths in psychology, her work in the related field of social services, as well as through her professional experience in various businesses and medical settings, she offers seniors: active listening; determination of appropriate needs; stimulation and motivation; moral support; and “made to measure” accompaniment.

Each client is unique and precious to her. It is with great respect, sensitivity and an open mind that she brings comfort to their daily living.

Her goal is to create a relationship of confidence with her clients and to collaborate with other people who may be in charge of seniors. France joined GerontoLogis two years ago and acquired the company, with Kate Coulter, in March 2007.  For a full history of GerontoLogis, click here.
